The Guvnor of foremost dance studio in Akwa Ibom State, Danceville, Mrs Edima Imara has called for the involvement of more hands in the promotion of dance as a viable sector of the entertainment industry.

The dance professional made the call when she played host to dancers and entertainment stakeholders at her studio in Uyo on Thursday, June 27, 2019, to discuss the opportunities available when dance is given a place of priority. Tagged ‘Dance Worka Seminar’ , Edima took participants round the world of the creative industry, with dance in focus. She affirmed that dance holds the ace for Akwa Ibom State to find it’s place in the scheme of things in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry.

According to her, “dance only requires one-tenth of the resources and efforts music demands to shoot the state to limelight”. She called on show promoters, the media, corporate bodies and government to support the establishment of a workable system for the growth of dance as a career and to increase patronage of dancers.

In attendance at the seminar were dancers, dance instructors, dance agents and entertainment journalists. Mrs Edima emphasized the role of the media in the revolution required in the dance industry, saying the business of dance should not be left for dancers only. In her words, “just like music and movies, alot of hands are needed behind the scene to put dance in the spotlight”.
